Gen Z have settled on the new age when adulthood starts

Forget 18 — GenZers say adulthood now starts closer to 30. A new study of Americans split evenly by generation (500 Gen Zers, 500 millennials, 500 Gen Xers and 500 baby boomers) said that being an adult begins when you can pay you own bills (56%), be financially independent (45%), and put responsibilities over fun (38%). With all those milestones further out of reach for young people today than ever before, it’s no wonder that only 11% of Gen Zers admitted they actually feel like adults.
